ABOUT IR-CAPITAL (INTER-RISCO)
Inter-Risco – Sociedade de Capital de Risco, SA, now branded IR-Capital, is a Porto-based private equity manager (with a second office in Cascais) registered with Portugal's CMVM. Founded in 1988 within Banco BPI as the first private Portuguese private equity company, it was bought out by its management in 2010 and passed to new controlling partners Juan Carlos Félix and Hussein Semedah in November 2022. It invests in growth/expansion, buy-outs, build-ups, secondaries and special situations, and states it has invested more than €220M in over 100 Iberian companies. Current vehicles include Fundo Alqueva and Fundo Audere (€40M each, 2024, secondaries and special situations in infrastructure and logistics) and Fundo Inter-Risco Consolidar (€65M, 2023, education, agribusiness, health and infrastructure), while Fundo Inter-Risco II (€81.5M, 2010) and Inter-Risco II CI (€30M, 2013) are in divestment. Its portfolio has included Chipidea and ExpressGlass, both since exited, as well as Mecwide, Just Stay Hotels, ENC Energy, Colégio Oceanus, Escolas João Paulo II, Tickles International School, Veracruz, Atis Group, Aquaterra and MasterTest.
